Weather data comes from the Open-Meteo API which aggregates multiple national weather services including NOAA, DWD, and ECMWF. Accuracy is typically within 1-2 degrees for temperature and reliable for 3-5 day forecasts. Longer-range forecasts become less precise.
Ideal planting conditions include soil temperature above 50F (10C) for cool-season crops or 60F (15C) for warm-season crops, no frost risk in the next 48 hours, and moderate soil moisture. Avoid planting in waterlogged soil or before heavy rain.
Spray when wind speed is below 10 mph (15 km/h) to prevent drift, no rain is expected for 4-6 hours after application, and temperatures are between 45-85F. Avoid spraying in temperature inversions (calm, cool mornings with warm air above).
Generally, 1 inch (25mm) of rain per week is sufficient for most crops during the growing season. If weekly rainfall exceeds 0.75 inches, you can typically reduce or skip supplemental irrigation. Actual needs vary by crop, soil type, and growth stage.
