Geocoding is the process of converting a human-readable address into geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude). This allows you to plot addresses on a map, calculate distances, or integrate location data into spreadsheets and GIS software.
Forward geocoding converts an address like "1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA" into coordinates (37.4220, -122.0841). Reverse geocoding does the opposite: given coordinates, it returns the nearest known address. This tool supports both directions, plus batch processing for converting many addresses at once.
| Direction | Input | Output | Use Case |
|---|---|---|---|
| Forward | Street address or place name | Lat/Long coordinates | Property lookups, mapping, data entry |
| Reverse | Lat/Long coordinates | Nearest address | GPS data analysis, field surveys |
Need to geocode a list of properties, customer addresses, or field sites? Switch to Batch mode, paste your addresses (one per line) or upload a CSV file, and click "Convert All." Results appear in a table with latitude, longitude, and status columns — ready to download as CSV.
Common batch geocoding use cases include: real estate agents converting MLS listings to map pins, farmers mapping field locations for precision agriculture, logistics companies plotting delivery routes, and researchers geocoding survey responses.
After converting an address, the tool displays coordinates in six professional formats: Decimal Degrees (DD), Degrees Minutes Seconds (DMS), Degrees Decimal Minutes (DDM), UTM, MGRS, and Geohash. Click the copy icon on any card to copy that format to your clipboard.

Accuracy depends on how specific your address is. A full street address typically resolves to within 10–50 meters. A city or region name resolves to its approximate center. The tool uses OpenStreetMap data via the Photon geocoding engine, which covers most global addresses.
Yes. Switch to Batch mode, enter one address per line (or upload a CSV file with an "Address" column), and click Convert All. Results appear in a table with latitude, longitude, and status columns, and you can download everything as a CSV file.
Yes. All features — forward geocoding, reverse geocoding, and batch conversion — are completely free. No sign-up, API key, or usage limits are required.
